We all know that even though the current ammo shortage has affected all calibers and types of ammo, it seems that rimfire ammo, particularly .22LR, has become exceptionally hard to get. In the discussions I've had with other shooters on this subject, I've often wondered what the rimfire ammo production process is like.
Well, a former shooting compadre of mine from Lincoln who now resides in Idaho sent me a link to a video that documents the process. It's a look inside the CCI rimfire ammo plant in Lewiston, where they produce 4 million rounds PER DAY. Hope you find the video as fascinating as I did.
4 million rounds produced by one manufacturer's facility in a single day! That's a BILLION rounds per year! When you consider how many other manufacturers produce .22LR ammo, their total annual output is mind boggling. Even more mind boggling is, with that much of it being produced, why .22LR ammo is nearly impossible to find.
